Very well known, but as it is slightly less easy to reach it is seldom crowded – the Marienschlucht near Bodman. A stream has worn its way down through the cliff, creating walls of up to 30 metres in height. Sometimes, the steps that take you alongside the stream are only just about a metre wide.
The Marienschlucht is best reached by foot from Bodman or Wallhausen, or by motor boat Großherzog Ludwig from Bodman, Sipplingen or Überlingen, to then climb up through the gorge by the steps. Or you can start at the golf club in Konstanz and from there walk down the gorge. In the summer the small kiosk and place to bath near the landing stage are very popular.
A visit to the Marienschlucht is combined well with a canoe trip from Wallhausen. More information can be found at Lacanoa.com.
