The Basilica of Birnau is a real landmark on Lake Constance’s west banks, a popular pilgrimage church and a jewel of the Baroque era. Visitors to the church (built in 1746 - 1749) will revel in its rich and elaborate interior. The inside of the church follows the ornamental Rococo style, while the pictures and frescos on the ceilings are simply breath-taking. An unusual feature: the Birnau has over seven altars. We recommend taking part in a guided tour or attending one of the church services. Concerts are also held in this impressive Basilica.
The Birnau Pilgrimage Church is a fine example of pure Baroque architecture.
