There is a wide variety of cafes, restaurants, bistros, wine cellars, snack bars and places to shop all around Lake Constance. That is why we do not offer half board. In Germany and Austria, an evening meal costs approx. EUR 10-20 per person; in Switzerland approx. SFR 20-40. You can, of course, eat more economically or even more exquisitely.

Fancy a weekend in the saddle, cycling? Or a short tour to try it out? Then come to Lake Constance and cycle round the main part of the lake, known as the Upper Lake. You will see beautiful towns such as Meersburg, Lindau or Bregenz along the way, while a boat trip gives you more of that lakeside feeling. Vineyards, orchards and the panorama of the Alps with the characteristic peak of the Säntis set the tone for this Upper Lake Cycle Tour. And it’s a good tour for people not so used to cycling.

Day 1 Arrival in Constance
A beautiful historical centre, a lively quayside promenade, cinemas, beer gardens and more.

Day 2 Constance - Lindau, approx. 50 km/31mi
Take the ferry to Meersburg, then you will cycle through vineyards and orchards, the beautiful Alpine panorama always in sight.

Day 3 Lindau - Rorschach/Arbon, 40-50 km/25-31 mi
The Bregenz lake stage, the Rheindelta nature reserve and the Hundertwasser Market Hall in Altenrhein are the sights to be seen today.

Day 4 Rorschach/Arbon - Constance, 35-45 km/22-28 mi and departure
Cycle tour along the Swiss bank through a region known locally as “Mostindien” (Cider India). You can then end your short cycle tour from 5 pm around the Upper Lake or continue your stay.

  • Parking facilities in Constance:
    Most hotels offer unguarded parking, prices range between 40 and 80 €/week, pre-booking is not possible. Alternatively, there are free parking facilities in residential areas - Constance is very safe.
  • Arriving by train:
    The hotels located in the historical centre are only a few walking minutes from Constance’s main railway station. For the hotels in the district of Lizelstetten, there is a direct bus (number 4) that departs right in front of the station. For the hotels in the Petershausen area we recommend taking a taxi, which usually costs around 9 €.
  • Arriving by plane at Zurich airport:
    Distance to Constance approx. 70 km / 43 miles, there is a good train connection.
    Price for a single ticket to Constance: approx. 30 SFR/ 25 €.
    Price for a German taxi to Constance: approx. 130 € per car.
  • Booked rental bikes can be picked up at the bike station in the city centre.
